Inter Milan has signed Brazilian 'boy wonder' Philipe Coutinho from Vasco da Gama, the Brazilian club said Wednesday, confirming press reports.
Vasco's new deputy chairman, Manuel Fontes, told Brazilian press agency Estado that the deal was done before the new management came in earlier this month.
Club Chairman Roberto 'Dinamite', a Vasco icon, has been hit by furious fan protests against the sale.
Inter Chairman Massimo Moratti agreed to pay 3.8 million euros in three yearly instalments for the 16-year-old, Fontes said.
Inter will leave Coutinho at Vasco until he turns 18, he said.
Inter is reportedly after another Brazilian teen phenomenon, Dentinho of Corinthians.
