Italian cheesemakers smashed their own world record for the second year running on Sunday when they made the longest ever plait of mozzarella cheese.
The 29 cheesemakers turned a street in this Campanian town into an open-air cheese factory for the day, cooking up 4,000 kg of milk, 800 kg of boiling water and 10 kg of salt before twisting the famed soft white cheese into a Guinness record-breaking plait 65.5 metres long.
In 2007 the town's cheesemakers claimed a world first with a plait of mozzarella 56.5 metres long, breaking their previous 2006 record of 42.4 metres.
