Udinese striker Fabio Quagliarella is out of Italy's Wednesday night friendly with Greece after breaking his nose in a training clash.
Italy doctors immediately set the slight fracture before sending the player to hospital for tests.
Quagliarella was not expected to feature against the Greeks after coach Marcello Lippi decided to give Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi his first start behind frontman Luca Toni of Bayern Munich.
A win or draw for Lippi would equal world soccer's unbeaten record of 31 games, currently held jointly by Argentina's Alfio Basile and Spain's Javier Clemente.
