Campari is the biggest drinks company in Italy in terms of turnover, according to a list of 40 firms drawn up by the Italian merchant bank Mediobanca based on data for 2006.
Davide Campari Milano came ahead of mineral water producer San Pellegrino and Coca Coca Italia, respectively.
Heineken Italy was fourth ahead of Zoppas Finanziaria - a holding company which controls a number of water and soft drinks brands - Acqua San Benedetto, Birra Peroni and Martini & Rossi.
Aside from Campari and Martini & Rossi, other companies on the Mediobanca list offering wine included Caviro, Gruppo Italiano Vini, Cavit, Mezzacorona, Cantina di Soave, Antinori, Gancia, Fratelli Martini, Zonin and Ruffino.
