Questions Asked
Hi there - doing some research. Anyone know if there is a river Indaco near Ortezzano???Thanks in advance
I may have asked this in the past, but don't know how to search old posts. Anyway,we're spending our first family Christmas in Italy this year. Any favourite recipes gratefully received.
I've just booked flights for 23rd December for whole family including seni-reluctant grown-up children. Two scenarios present themselves to me.
Can be found here:http://www.guardian.co.uk/italian-style?INTCMP=BACSPRMPU3918Anotnio Berardi - who he??
What's with Belgium?? Flying back yesterday (1st July) we could see fireworks going off all over the country.
Got this off facebook: https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.economist.com%2Fnode%2F18805327&h=37c7f 'Nuff s
Went to see this movie last night in Oxford. Probably one of the slowest films with the least happening that I have ever seen - but actually it was perfect! Shot in Calabria - in part in Serra San Bruno - everyone will recognise a little vignett
I have just receved a document from Ray Ellis which those with an interest in recent-ish history might like to share. I don't know if I can attach it so have copied it in its entirety below - apologies therefore for length of post. Ray Ellis was

Democracy is by definition flawed - to quote dear Winston - it's the least worst option. So on that basis I'm not sure Italy's system even counts as a democracy - especially if it comes below China in any listings!!
I recommend you talk to http://www.philipwhitefreight.com/Phil_White_Freight/Welcome.html V efficient - have used him a couple of times and will do again
He'll probably contact you himself anyway, but you could do worse than contact phil white at http://www.philipwhitefreight.com/Phil_White_Freight/Welcome.html He's coseperlacasa on here. We've used him a couple of times and would highly recommend him
Thanks to Wikipedia I've answered my own question "Il Resto del Carlino is an Italian local newspaper based in Bologna, and is one of the oldest newspapers in Italy. Its rather evocative name means "the change you get from a Carlino," the smallest part of the Papal bajocco, which was legal tender at the time, when a sheet of local news was given out in shops to make up for any change owing. It is indirectly owned by a group of Italian industrialists, and reflects their political stance"
Many thanks for this Penny. Does this mean I have to write to all the utility companies with a change of address??
I recommend the wine bar Penny mentions. You can have a full-on meal or just bits and pieces together with wine-tasting (it's an enoteca) And you have a wonderful view of the piazza
Unless you are absolutely fixated on the house in question I'd say don't give it any more thought. It's not your problem and you shouldn't get dragged in to any argument I agree that you should check out the Abruzzo forums. I don't know the ins and outs of different types of agenst, though I would probably advise using a well-established local Italian agency if possible. Apart from anything else they will have all the local contacts you will need to eg open bank accounts etc. There's no doubt that buying abroad is a scary process. I don't know if you're planning on buying house for restoration, but if so, that roller coaster ride has its fair share of terrifying moments!
When you say "lounging", sprostoni, is that the sort that involves a comfy seat and a carafe or two???
If you type in pow camps uk into Google you'll get quite a few sites which may give you some leads. You could try this one for starters http://www.pegasusarchive.org/pow/frames.htm Good luck
Absolutely agree with most of your points BSpice - . Have to say though that in the scheme of things the cost of an Esse stove compared to the total restoration costs was a very small percentage. I'm just a hardworking girl who has to look to her pennies like anyone else. Actually the kitchen is just out of sight in the photo. And as an AGA owner of 20 years' standing I'd have to say that my Esse boils water just as quick as the AGA ever did!
