I've just booked flights for 23rd December for whole family including seni-reluctant grown-up children. Two scenarios present themselves to me.

Went to see this movie last night in Oxford.  Probably one of the slowest films with the least happening that I have ever seen - but actually it was perfect!  Shot in Calabria - in part in Serra San Bruno - everyone will recognise a little vignett

Just to add to teh above update, all the information is now available on http://camp59survivors.wordpress.com/2010/05/ That will take you straight to "L'Informatore on the Davison rescue" and after reading the first part, if you click on "Read the rest of this entry" you'll (surprise surprise) get to read the rest. And some further inside info - as a result of this publicity a fluent English speaking  grand-nephew of Giovanni Bellazzi had contacted John - and informs him that Giovanni's siter is still alive at 103!  I've wrned him that he is going to be doing a lot of eating during his August reunion! I hope this encourages others trying to trace their fathers' and grandfathers' experiences in Italy in WW2

I've no complaints re Ryanair, but I use it all the time and see it as a matter of honour to beat them at their own game (baggage being a continual game of catch-up).  And its the only service to my nearest airports I can see that those who nneed more help might find it lets them down.  But I agree with the overall premise that you get what you pay for and that should always be borne in mind when booking.

I couldn't find anything on the UK news about this - only a comment on my Facebook from Italians incensed - presumably by the wasted time, effort and money. Or maybe that some jobs for the boys are now under threat!
