Someone posted on the old forum about the thousand-year old trails used for the movement of sheep herds from Abruzzo to Puglia. I think they have a special name, but can't remember it. Anyway, a very go-ahead Abruzzese now offers the chance to wa
Has anyone seen this movie? If so, can they explain the point of it? Saw it tonight and glad I'd bought the cheap seats! Has it been shown in Italy? If so, what's the Italian verdict?
Saw this at my local fleapit this evening. Specially recommended to those of us not in Italy - it conjures up the Italian way of talking about and preparing food - I could almost taste the sparkling wine they were drinking. This is a good preci

I'm doing a bit of research on Italians who helped escaping PoWs and have come across a photo with the following written on the back:Montefalcone li 25-6-1944 (A Piceno)Mio dovere come patriota, lasciarvi a tutti il ricordoFamiglia xxxx, xxxx xxxx
I've posted about this newsletter before, in the old forum, but thought I would remind those with an interest in S Marche of its continued existence. It has now been going for a year, and a celebratory gathering is suggested in the latest edition

I've posted this article in Aceto's thread as well - wrong country but heading in the right direction! http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jun/09/british-expats-france-supermarket-deliveries

Mr Bean???
Just to add to teh above update, all the information is now available on http://camp59survivors.wordpress.com/2010/05/ That will take you straight to "L'Informatore on the Davison rescue" and after reading the first part, if you click on "Read the rest of this entry" you'll (surprise surprise) get to read the rest. And some further inside info - as a result of this publicity a fluent English speaking grand-nephew of Giovanni Bellazzi had contacted John - and informs him that Giovanni's siter is still alive at 103! I've wrned him that he is going to be doing a lot of eating during his August reunion! I hope this encourages others trying to trace their fathers' and grandfathers' experiences in Italy in WW2
I've no complaints re Ryanair, but I use it all the time and see it as a matter of honour to beat them at their own game (baggage being a continual game of catch-up). And its the only service to my nearest airports I can see that those who nneed more help might find it lets them down. But I agree with the overall premise that you get what you pay for and that should always be borne in mind when booking.
Love it. More please - culinary or otherwise......
...your thread has been hijacked, though maybe everyone's ramblings will help consolidate your thoughts. Anyway - Yummmm - I'm doing that chicken thing (presumably Flemish - or is it Walloon - can't remember which are the non-French speakers) and I'm DEFINITELY trying "tagliatelle allo Marmite" Really interesting to hear an Italian view with a nod to Britishness. Any more cross-cultural musings Raggio??
I couldn't find anything on the UK news about this - only a comment on my Facebook from Italians incensed - presumably by the wasted time, effort and money. Or maybe that some jobs for the boys are now under threat!
I've pm'd you
