Does anyone have a recommendation for a great, non-touristy restaurant in Bologna? We will be spending one day there before heading back to the States and would like to have a really memorable lunch.

We are going to spend 3 nights in the northern part of Abruzzo (around the Controguerra area) before heading to southern Marche again. We'd like to check it out to see if we are interested in the area as a potential place to retire.

We are contemplating starting to purchase euros with US dollars, in anticipation for an eventual house purchase in Italy, which could occur anytime we find a house within the next 5 years or so.

Very good. Thank you.
I have requested access to my private e-mails twice in the past week but have not received anything and no one has responded. I have some stored messages that I need to retrieve.
No, we have not received any.
What a shame. The forum has become very difficult to use and is so cumbersome. I too, hope that the PM's come back. We have made several friends through the Forum that we get together with when we're in Italy and having that option of contact was most helpful.Another site I sometimes use is: http://www.expatsinitaly.com/ I know it is geared more to the US but some of you may be interested in checking it out.
I would also recommend long gloves. Our friends in southern Marche told us about someone who died last year from a viper bite on his hand. While working in the grass, he hadn't realized that he had been bitten. By the time he realized that something was wrong, it was too late.
Thanks so much everyone. I have forwarded my friend your messages. Hopefully he will be able to sort this out.
Hi Penny, Unfortunately, my friend hasn't explained it all that clearly to me but apparently the stufa is under warranty and now the supplier is sending out a technician to see what the problem is as it isn't working properly. He just bought it in December. His Italian neighbors have told him that he should not pay the technician when he comes tomorrow.

Thanks Gala, Wishing you and everyone on the Forum the happiest of holidays.
I had gotten several e-mails as well telling me that my membership in several groups had been approved. I had already joined them several years ago.
