Well we just can't get Jessie out of the water and to celebrate her 9 month Birthday, we went down to our lovely Lago di Ruffino for a swim!
Did anyone just feel that earth tremor at 11pm. Here near Amandola it was very strong but short, the first we have felt for a while. Hope this does not mean there is worse to come.
Had a great meal in Da Cicco in Gualdo last night. Although it was 10pm when we arrived, Michelle the lovely waitress was very helpful and friendly (she is Romanian) and spoke very good Italian and English.
The devastating earthquake that struck the region of L'Aquila on April 6th 2009 is long gone from newspaper headlines and television reports.
The Marche Chapter are holding a BBQ to raise funds for the victims of the L'Aquila earthquake on Sunday 21st June, hosted by Sarah and Mark at their home Villa Conti (please pm Sarah for directions) from 3pm.
Please can we make a list of raffle tickets bought and add them on here when we have been notified. If we can try and just keep this post for the raffle ticket listing so that it is easier to add up. Thanks.
Please can we list here any raffle prizes we have collected or are donating, so that we can all see what we have:
More raffle prizes! - Sarah who works at Cicerone, the publishers of the walking book we found, has very kindly donated a copy for our BBQ. Anyone else collected any prizes - we need as many as possible!

Thanks so much everyone - lots to look into. Have totally forgotten how to find my Alice wireless 26 letter password for other people to use the internet - Penny if you are there???? Sorry to be a pain but I know you sent the link to the website before. Thanks
After last nights BBQ, we have now raised a grand total of €2213.57 for the L'Aquila Earthquake Fund so thanks so much to everyone who supported us and remember you can still donate on the Just Giving website.
Thanks Chris, you never know, we may even have another one!!!
Thanks to another very generous donation, we have now raised a total of €1978.57. Looking forward to the BBQ tomorrow night - starting at 6.30pm - hope you can come along and help us raise even more money!
Thanks Simon and Jo - we got there in the end! Do hope you can make it to the BBQ this Friday if you are free - and anyone else of course who may be in the Le Marche/ Amandola area - would be great to see you. We are just trying to make a few extra euro's for L'Aquila and have a fun evening too. Let us know if you can make it.
Welcome Julie - Why not try Le Marche - there are lot of olive trees here and the scenary is stunning, very 'real life' and totally unspoilt.
Russ/ Shirlitalia, We used to use Auto Europe when coming over too and always found them very reasonable. Some guests staying at the moment hired a car for 3 weeks for just ove £240 from them! Very good value considering there is ment to be a shortage of rental cars and prices have gone up in general. Just one tip - it you use the UK site rather than the USA one, I have always found the prices to be much cheaper.
Hi Penny - Yes they are back again - when I looked the other day there wasn't a single flight after October and I went through every day. Maybe this is it now- the winter schedual may be now loaded. Thanks
Thanks so much Carole
Welcome Conrad, and hope you enjoy the Community. Well I am from Nuthall so not far away (Mum still lives there) - small world isn't it? We moved to Le Marche a couple of years ago, after buying our house here 8 years ago and renovating it and have never looked back. It is certainly an unspoilt part of Italy, with stunning countryside, mountain walks, peace and quiet, very uncommercialised and has great beaches too! If ever you want to visit let us know - would be good to catch up on all the news from 'home' - hear the IKEA trading estate has been expanding over these last few years!
