Well if you do try again, and if you can, I would use a different pc an/or at least a different browser. Yes you can clear cookies, but I'm not convinced they are all deleted if you pick and choose which .... Best of luck and do come back and tell everyone if you find/solve the problem. Now off to fight with Telecom (again).
You are right I will always try not to be beaten, its a challenge in life these Italian ways.... Okay I almost give up. But just because it's Christmas and you started out so nice :) I've re-registered the OH! They don't know this of course... however I did think as it's the linking of the a/c thats the problem it matters little what details I put in to register. I did se another email address and their details just in case. You wont really be surprised at what I found. Registered, got the email, clicked said emal link to activate the account, took me to their main home page. I entered the new registration details i.e. email and password and woe and behold it took me straight to the page where you enter your customer number. Only odd thing in the whole process was the registration confirmation screen where they had the surname wrong, but it was correct on the email. I suspect the codice caused the surname error. The a/c does show the correct name when in there. I did notice the email note saying to acctivate the a/c within 48 hours, but assume as you have access you did this on time. However it also states if you don't you have to re-register. Can't recall if you did not say something about trying to use a different email address at some point. Unfortunte that I could not come up with the same screen situation as you have, so I can't investigate how you get out of it. The only minor niggle is you saying you default to English, I might have missed it, but I did not see anything asking for your language. I did set the nationality to UK, but when accessing the account and the profile the language is set to Italiano. The entire process took no time at all really and was without any hassle, assuming people have their CF and know a little Italian or translate the page using Google. I'm sure there will be a way around your situation, but unless I can replicate it I unfortunately can't help you... One, and perhaps quicker, option is to re-register under your own details.
Oh dear I really feel guilty now if you had to type all that, tell me not! To copy text, simply drag your mouse over the text you want to copy, right click what should be the blue selected text, select copy ... To paste said copied text in here easiest way is click where you want text to copy to, then hold the "CTRL" key and hit the "v" key. Sometiems this takes a few seconds on this forum and now and then fails altogether, but it works fie most of the time. A lot of sites use images for their text and you can't simply copy it a described. Windows 8 and above there is a little prog called "Sniping tool", with that you can draw a box around any part of a screen and copy it. If you ever want an entire screen "Alt-Prt SC" , that's hold the "Alt" key then hit the "Prt sc(R)" key. This puts a copy of the entire screen in your clipboard for pasting. For just the current selected frame just use the "Prt-scr" key...But enough of that, just the first few words "MyEnel:Benvenuta, my (wife's) name" identified the page you are on. From that same page, this bit here top left ...you can click on the red circle text “Servizio di maggior tutela” which should take you to the screen you need. Unfortunately the forum will not let me post the snippit I have of it.
Okay Al, I know the problem now, you are not tenacious enough. Or perhaps it just a case of sick of it. I'm sure the page can't be the same else you wold see the almost invisible box for your customer number. The guy on the other forum did not have to go into any shop to "link it up". I suspect it may just cause you yet more frustration, but good luck! I will have a look at Google chrome later today....
Not too sure why, but my reply just went! What is on the page then? Can you provide the link to the exact page? Cut and paste any specific text (italian please) on the page. I guess from your reply you are using Google chrome? Happy to have a go with that as well if you are as it may well render different to Firefox. I never belittle anyone regards IT, I worked in that area for years and know that no one knows everything and these days it is a lot worse!
So you are clicking here :- and get this page , it should have this wording "Inserisci il numero cliente della fornitura da visualizzare e scopri i servizi a te dedicati" inside the box. If you do not see "Accedi alla tua Area Clienti" inside a box, it may well be you are defaulting to the "Contattaci" tab on the same page, if so then you need to click the blue "Mercato a maggior tutela" to switch. Note if you see the wording "Accedi alla tua Area Clienti" , then you are likely NOT seeing the very faint box below this wording. I use Firefox, so it may well be other web browsers show it better or even worse! Try using the link above as it amy take you straight to the correct page either before or once you have logged in...
Okay Al I had another look at their site and indeed it does seem like they are a bit more joined up now! Now I know you have a login and can do so, starting from this page , click "Accedi" , which takes me to the login screen. I used to have a "user name" for this I'm sure, but think I was froced to change it to an email address sometime back. On login it should take you to a myenel page ending "register/index.aspx" which has an English flag top right (not really much use as it's only that page). The real bit you want is on the left below your name, next to the white "Profile MyENEL" you can pick which part of ENEL you belong to, ours is "Servizio di maggior tutela" and the other is "Mercato libero", click which you belong to. That should take you to the page your customer number is entered. Note below "Accedi alla tua Area Clienti" is a very poorly disigned entry box, enter your number and click "Prosegui". If you ge the page for "consenso" just click later "piu tardi".
"Was there any point to this response other than to be rude?"Well I could argue the very same that your post was a rude and unhelpful whinge... But that would be being very rude. My reply post did at least get you confirming you had bothered to read the previous posts. Yes, it is a very big tedious topic, but it has, or did have, all the answers people had asked. I have to admit to not reading the entire topic again to check out the rest of my answers/comments here, but I’m sure they will be in some way correct. First off I will explain part of the reason for the “did have” above. There is a good chance the company has changed its procedures since I registered in 2011… although I may have had to re-register at some point. Therefore if you only partly think about it, and I do believe I’ve mentioned this here, it will be difficult to do as I would to help those that need it, to step through and document the process as I’m already registered! Still I do have a reasonable memory for these type of things and therefore tried to help other here when they raised a specific problem or indicated they simply were not seeing the obvious.I don’t think I’ve ever said registering was without problem(s) way back then, but I do normally keep a note of any problem I encounter. One I did have was the entry of the “numero cliente” whereby my letter from ENEL at that time had a “/3” fter the 9 digit number found on my bill. I eventually tried that and gained access. However at some point (at least a few years later) I found I no longer needed this and only entered the 9 digit number, without spaces of course. If I had a problem like this I would at least provide people with detailed information exactly where the problem is located, with pictures or a link to the exact page they have a problem with. So, have you managed to get the right ENEL Company? There are two parts to ENEL now, as outlined in other posts here. Have they confirmed your registration by email and is it just a matter of linking your account whereby the problem lies?I have already alluded to the potential that things have changed, however this might indicate for the better. This person having registered very recently might be in a better position to help than me

so I've split the post, this is the relevant part of the screen you should get....

Funny how others have no such problem registering on their site ....
