I am fast approaching the need to renew my driving licence as it is due to expire this mid year.
I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).
I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.
It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?
Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?
I'm sure someone here will advise (hopefully)............I have some 30/40 false acacia trees (the ones with the spikes - ouch !), they have grown in the last 5 years to some 15/20metres high.
"Mr Berlusconi told Italian television: "Life in Italy is good. The restaurants are full. It's difficult to get a seat on a plane they're so busy; holidays are all booked up."There you go then, no financial crisis here !?S
We go to this area every few years.............such a disaster for the people there..............A number of British holidaymakers have been left fearing for their homes and their lives after severe flooding swept away properties and cars and kill

Hi Ram, What is this 'simple one line tax return' ? do you know the modulo number ? Is it really that easy ? S
Council Tax ?
Good thinking Ram, I think you are allowed to extend up to 25% without a lot of legal wrangling, S
Your setup should work well with a 1.5mtr giant dish, you are more inside the footprint than we are (our 1mtr - €120 - dish works 'ok' to fine), the old UK SKY box was a freebie from the attic of a relative, Good luck, S
S
There is a grace period until November..so you don't actually need one (two) for 6 weeks or so. S
I would bring any old UK sky box and, if you can get one, a 1mtr dish, point the dish at Astra (28.2 east) and you'll get all english tv and sky news (and a few other channels as wel)l. The only problem is that it may not last for long, but it works fine here in Southern Le Marche (at the mo !) S
What a great idea !............Stick some small wheels on it and it will not be 'permanent'. That way you can roll it away when you need to, put some chocks initially to stop it from any sort of roll and 'giovannis' your uncle!! S
I agree Angie (and Robert), We started lessons before we arrived, and slowly forgot a lot of what we had soaked up (which wasn't much !). After moving here, we started lessons again and panicked every time lesson time was coming around ! The other thing was that our neighbours and the locals here all speak 'dialetto'. I then had the great idea that we NEED lingua di italiano MAYBE a max of 10% of our actual time (?).......and thought that why spend so much time in our dotage to help reduce the 10% to maybe 8% ? So we stopped our lessons (basic laziness I think), but..............we have enjoyed nigh on 5 years of life here, renting a house, buying a house, getting restructuring done on the house, bought a car, insurance, used doctors, hospital etc etc (oh AND eaten and drank in lots of restaurants !). We communicate (of sorts) with the locals and neighbours, and I think, very slowly, we are building up our language skills through actually living here. Good luck doing whichever way suits people best ! S Re the hunters: We have heard but not seen yet, I THINK that they have to stand and shoot until October (rather than track and hunt if you know what I mean !)
Hi Gala, I do agree with your views (in the main), you say 'Recently, there has been a banning of a member and this obviously has been done by Admin' ............I recently made the assumption that the said member had been 'removed' and I also commented recently that he/she was going on and on about doom and gloom and it was depressing ( and by the way got admonished by another member for 'burying my head in the sand' !). Do you actually KNOW the the said member has been 'banned' ? If so how do you know, is there somewhere on the site that tells us this ? Just interested........ S
