I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).

I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.

It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?

Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?

Thanks Ram...............I will summon up the strength to call again soon, it is some time since I last tried. I seem to recall that they said we could only cancel or change in the month of June !!!!!!????? So,................ last June(circa 12th) we phoned up and they said we had to keep it until at least THIS June!!  As we were busy with other things we've left it,  (currently paying 69 euros per month!). We have also been hit with 'failing to cancel' a contract on House Insurance within two months of expiry of contract, meaning by default we have to retain the contract for another year !! Sounds like a scam, watch the small print is the order of the day here in Italy. S

Not only is the package different, it is also relatively quite expensive. We have 'the lot ' (silly really cos we don't use it all!) and it costs something like 63 Euros per month . It is also VERY difficult to change your contract DOWNwards, (a right can of worms), so take the minimum and build it up first. I am building up my strength to have a go at changing our contract downwards one day! S

Hi Sass............. Yes seen this problem myself whereby in the text body the cursor doesn't "appear". It actually does, but is VERY difficult to see it. If you press enter, you in effect go down one line and then you can start typing no probs.I'm sure the 'experts' will be on the case, Cheers, S

Bert & Mabel, after many years of blissful togetherness, were walking across the village green contemplating their retirement. Bert says..........'aah Mabel, do you remember all those years ago, it was against that fence over there,  where we first made love together......?' Mabel says 'ooh yes Bert, I remember it well ...............what do you think, shall we have another go while we are still able?' Bert says 'Yes come on, quick, whilst no-one is around' So off they go, Mabel starts hollering and screaming like never before, Bert says 'cor blimey Mabel, steady on, you weren't like this all those years ago'     Mabel says..............'but Bert, the fence wasn't electrified back then !'

I for one think it's awful awful awful. We live our lives as we do and the world warms up and cools down, ABSOLUTELY nothing to do (in general) with how we live our lives in my view. Organisations are VERY quick to MAKE MONEY out of these 'exploitation' schemes, IF it was so obvious, why doesn't the government, give us all a £1million EACH and get us to grow our own, create our own (heating via solar panles etc), travel via our own(transport, electric powered vehicles etc), etc etc. Why don't THEY stop travelling around the world (on jollies) and make use out of video technology , why why why ??!!! Grrrrrrr, makes me want to swear !!! S

I can see the view from both sides and I tend to take the view ' do one's own research' AND include a 'feelgood' factoring. (or possibly a feel 'bad' factor!) Having bought (because we wanted to 'escape' the crazy world that is England) in Italy a few years ago, I don't really care on the value of my property really. We are REALLY enjoying life here and our feelgood factor is VERY high. I wish there was a 'thank you' button again!! S

A single A4 sheet of handwritten, dated and signed  paper suffices (so I understand). Charlotte has done some superb work on this Forum re this. S

Using the viamichelin mapping stuff.................put a 'stopover' in (say Turin), it will then divert you away from Switzerland. Try starting in Calais with a stopover in Turin then target Milan...............it does it all for you! S

They stick a small dish (about a 10 inches square), on your wall pointing towards the antenna that you will receive from, a wire comes into the house and is attached to a very small specific router, I just plugged this into my wireless router and Bob's my uncle (so to speak!). Cheers, S

Don't forget, the higher figures include the cost of ALL items (wood/gas/electric/water/rubbish tax - no ICI tax). The biggest item for us is the Electricity and a big factor in the high electricity is the pool pump, it almost doubles the monthly electricity costs when in use.
