I saw something very briefly about this on the news today. I believe it is an anti-tax evasion law. Anyone know anything about it? Have I misunderstood? Are they actually referring to the requirement to declare any money sent abroad?

I posted a letter today and was told in the Post Office that all the CAP codes for all towns in Fermo & Ascoli provinces had been changed. For example Amandola has gone from 63021 to 63857. I think it also affects other regions too.

I have a UK bank account registered at my Italian address. It is what they call an "international" account so I don't know if that makes a difference.

The info regarding inheritance if you make a will came from here: http://www.parlandosparlando.com/view.php/id_710/lingua_0/whoisit_1 The info regarding inheritance if you don't make a will came from here: http://www.studiocataldi.it/guide_legali/successione/successione-legittima.asp This is of course the standard Italian inheritance set out in law. As I understand from Charlotte's previous postings on the subject, as British citizens we can make an Italian will (as RAM said) and say we want our British will to apply and then set out our British will however we like. Just my understanding though!

We bought one of those electric ones (like you get in butchers) from Brico for indoors. It cost €9.90 and it works a treat. No bites and lots of dead mossies. We do have fly nets at the windows though. We bought a roll of it and just silicon it to the window frames. The sticky tape just didn't stick well to be honest. Silicon works fine and you can peel it off if you need to.

As I understand it, if there are more than 1 child and a wife/husband surviving then it goes like this:

  • 1/4 to wife/husband
  • 1/2 to be divided between the kids
  • 1/4 to be disposed as you wish

If there is only one child and a wife/husband surviving then it is:

  • 1/3 to wife/husband
  • 1/3 to child
  • 1/3 to be disposed as you wish

There is quite a detailed explanantion here. It doesn't have any detailed for us non-Italian citizens though.

Anyone know if you follow this course of action, does it mean you would fall under UK inheritance tax rules instead of Italian ones?

Sorry RAM we overlapped. As a libero professionista I have no requirement to be registered with the Camera di Commercio so my accountant "opened" my INPS account. Estate agents are a different case. Even though they are also a "Libero Professionista" it is classed differently.
