Welcome To Sulmona in AbruzzoSome of you will already have been following the Facebook page which I have been co-editing for nearly 2 years now. What started as a voluntary project, to help promote the local area which we love, has now grown into

If you are near Sulmona this weekend, why not come along and enjoy the Ovidian themed weekend of fun and entertainment? There are displays, exhibitions, tastings, competitions and some great shopping opportunities.
As promised, a post that may be helpful to others. We bought a LHD UK reg car last year and are now trying to re-register it here. Fingers crossed we are all sorted now but we have had to jump a hurdle which we had not anticipated.
We've realised that it may be another 3 years before this one has a home with us so perhaps it's time to pass it on. It's an AEG Favorit 40850. No longer in production but spare parts are available if necessary. Bought in 2005.
Land Rover Discovery 3 SE For Sale (Sulmona AQ) It's served its purpose for us so it may well suit someone else now.
We're off back to the UK for a visit by car and we'd like to stay in or near the city. Although I'm happy to do the usual searches on-line it would be helpful to have any ideas from Forum members.
Our lease is up at the end of April and we are putting out feelers. We've spoken to our local agents, asked our friends and colleagues, and we'll start to call the numbers on a selection of bright orange Affitasi notices that we've seen around to
My husband and I moved to Sulmona in the Abruzzo towards the end of last year.

...one of the (very) few things I miss about the UK! Last time we were there we bumped into Sig. Pullman!
I'm not sure it's a case of pros and cons. As far as I know It's a simple matter of how much time you spend in each country. Where is your 'more than half'? That's where you a resident or are supposed to apply to be resident. If that changes you're supposed to change your residency status although I'm not sure how that would work if you are one year on and one year off so to speak. There are advantages such as lower property purchase tax (not much good to you now sadly) and utilities apparently and being able to buy a car etc (many more I'm sure but I'm no expert) but if you are resident here then this is where you pay your tax too. If you are wavering at more than 5 months here in Italy, and think you could fulfil the criteria required for residency, then it might be a good idea to speak with a professional. Let us know how it works out.
The Costa Smeralda is GORGEOUS but accommodation is v. expensive and mainly private villas. If you have the €€€ then the Hotel Calla di Volpe (sp?) is very special. Make sure you go to Rosemary's for dinner.
Good Luck! Having just experienced a disastrous move ourselves, I would highly recommend that you allow Pickfords to pass over EVERYTHING to their Italian partners and let them take care of it. Depending on where you are you may need a trans-ship vehicle (ie a smaller one) and a permesso from the Vigili Urbani for access and parking. They normally require a week's notice if you need to close the road. In bocca al lupo... :)
http://www.mindmyhouse.com/index.php I just came across this site on another forum. It may be useful, I'm not sure, but in bocca al lupo anyway.
Hi there you two. I sent you a PM a few days ago about this but I'm not sure if you have seen it.
I can second the above raccomandazione. Charlotte was extremely helpful when we had a query about eligibility for health care (cf) recently. Give her a call. She's based in Rome, and you don't say if you need or just want someone locally, but she is an exceptionally good person to start with.
How south is south? I know of a lovely little house in Carunchio on the Abruzzo / Molise border that might suit you: http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&q=carunchio&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF8&ei=0a1ETLC7NceMOJ-FlY8N&ved=0CA0Q_AU&hq=&hnear=Carunchio+Chieti,+Abruzzi,+Italy&z=12 Let me know (by PM if you prefer) if this appeals and I will put you in touch.
Do you have anywhere to stay? Highly recommend this place. We went there last week for 2 nights. www.bbvillabeatrice.com Buon divertimento!
Thanks to Pacentro for the tip. In the end it was outside of our budget but did look beautiful! Of course we just ended up doing the usual searches on various sites and picked something that fit the bill-ish. It would appear that we got the last room in a 4* at a knock down rate so fingers crossed...What ever did we do before 'tinterweb? In case someone drags this thread back up at a later stage this is where we are staying:http://www.hotelexecutiveflorence.com/
