If you are near Sulmona this weekend, why not come along and enjoy the Ovidian themed weekend of fun and entertainment? There are displays, exhibitions, tastings, competitions and some great shopping opportunities.
As promised, a post that may be helpful to others. We bought a LHD UK reg car last year and are now trying to re-register it here. Fingers crossed we are all sorted now but we have had to jump a hurdle which we had not anticipated.
We've realised that it may be another 3 years before this one has a home with us so perhaps it's time to pass it on. It's an AEG Favorit 40850. No longer in production but spare parts are available if necessary. Bought in 2005.
Land Rover Discovery 3 SE For Sale (Sulmona AQ) It's served its purpose for us so it may well suit someone else now.
We're off back to the UK for a visit by car and we'd like to stay in or near the city. Although I'm happy to do the usual searches on-line it would be helpful to have any ideas from Forum members.
Our lease is up at the end of April and we are putting out feelers. We've spoken to our local agents, asked our friends and colleagues, and we'll start to call the numbers on a selection of bright orange Affitasi notices that we've seen around to
My husband and I moved to Sulmona in the Abruzzo towards the end of last year.

Love it! Pithy, amusing and well-scripted verbal jousting - not a lazy, angry, personal slanging match. Bravi! IMHO tother forum is full of wannabes and groupies who claim to have a bisnonno from Calabria or (wherever) and feel that gives them their right to an opinion on all things Italian. Forums (fora?) are fluid and organic beings and I'm not sure how you control such things without censorship - which we don't want surely? Personally I've found this one both useful and diverting but then I'm lucky that I also have a 'locals' forum just for my region in Italy which is ottimo. Viva la differenza :) Katy
...forgive me for jumping in here, as I've only skimmed the above posts, but could you perhaps rent out your London house for a year and see how you get on before making the big step to relocate? Your children will certainly benefit from the experience even if they don't go to school (but they could I'm sure) and then you could all relax, enjoy, recuperate and not worry about launching a new business until you are all absolutely sure? Who says you have to be 18 to have a gap year? Buona fortuna and I wish you all the best.
Napoli is great but yes, it can be a little frightening at times so keep your wits about you. Has this been quoted on this forum before? "In MIlan traffic lights are instructions, in Rome they are suggestions and in Naples they are Christmas decorations'" Love it! My personal recommendation is the National Archeological Museum - specifically for the Farnese sculptures including the Farnese Bull which is absolutely huge and pretty amazing. Here's the wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naples_National_Archaeological_Museum Enjoy!
Thank you Valentina - most helpful. Saluti, Katy
Thank you Russ for your reply. We loved Teramo and to be honest it was our 'back up' if Sulmona didn't work out. Our first thought was also B&B, but we decided that until our little one is a little older it's not a good lifestyle match for us. That plus my working hours are afternoons & evenings and I'm the one who speaks the better Italian. Right now we are looking for 2 properties - one for us to live in in Sulmona CS and another villa / apartments within one hour of here to let out as a weekly holiday rental business. Would love to pick your brains about markets (Italian, UK and beyond etc) as my background is in marketing. Do you have a web site for your B&B which I could look at? Thanks. Katy
Thank you Valentina for your reply to my intro post. We have looked at your property section, and dipped in and out of it, but with no prices and no locations more specific than 'Abruzzo' it's a little frustrating. Any plans to upgrade the usability of this section? Katy
