We are setting off in our Hymer next week to start our retirement in Italy.
Can anyone give me a ball park figure for installing a 4 x 8 metre salt water pool please. Moving to Liguria in November and would love a pool but we don't know if we can afford it as we haven't a clue of costs.
We will shortly be paying for our house in Italy and we are trying to find thet bank fwithe thebest euro exhange rate. We have looked at 'World First' but would be grateful if anyone has any other suggestions.
We have just agreed on the purchase of a house, but we did not go through an estate agency. Does anyone have any experience of the buying process please? The vendors are being very helpful as they have sold and bought in Italy before.
Hi has anybody out there had any dealings with 'March Homes Direct'? If so, what are your thoughts on them?
I've just been looking at some property for sale on line and I have found the same property on sale with 3 different estate agencies, one asking €395,000, another €345,000 and third €299,000! That's one heck of a difference! Is this common?
Does anyone out there live in the area between Comano, Fivizzano, Bagnone and Licciana Nardi? It's one of the areas we hope to look at. The property seems to be reasonably priced and the scenery looks beautiful.
Have had lots of people advising us to rent before buying, which is a gsensible idea but we had thought of buying a camper van so that we have the freedom to travel around to look at properties and save on rent. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the advice. I do speak very good Italian but I am struggling with some of the legal terms (I probably would in English too to be honest!) Can anyone recommend a good, resonably priced translation service as I would feel much more confident with the documents in English.
Thanks for that Penny. Useful information!
All contact details are on the website.
I am interested because they seem like a one stop shop which would be very helpful. Just thought the idea was good so that everything could be coordinated through one agency. I'm sure that will come at a price but am interested to know if anyone else has used them.
They are based in San Ginesio. Frequent contibutor to 'Italia' Magazine.
Thanks for all that information. It is certainly well worth knowing all that. I'm trying to arm myself with as much information about all these possible scams before embarking on the house hunt!
It all sounds like a bit of a mine field, but thanks for all the advice. Fore warned is fore armed!
Thanks. I can see what you are saying. The lowest price is actually the local estate agent from what I can gather. The 2 higher prices are from on line property services. This obviously something to be very watchful of!
Hi I'm really fortunate in that I grew up with an Italian mother so I don't have the problem of having to learn the language. However, one tip that I can give you is to start out by trying to get hold of some children's books, and I do mean starter reading books. (try Amazon)These will have really basic language and just work your way up from there. See if you can find the ones that have to do will general everyday situations , rather than fairy tales. I think you will find this will help. Hope so. Good luck!
Thanks for that very useful. I do speak Italian fortunately!
