How high is the house, as if only 2 floors, the roof ring may not be needed?

Hi everyone,am new to the site,We have just bought an old farmhouse in Abruzzo near the town of Atessa.The house 120sqm is in good condition but needs renovating.What would  be the cost of roof works ? Our Geometra says it needs modern insulation,which means the whole roof is to be stripped back and replaced.

When you say redone - how? Did you just relay tiles or did you get the requisite permissions from teh comune and have the whole thing done?  Did you use a geometra? 

My assumption would be that, assuming all the plans were submitted to the comune and 'approved', - you are OK.  If not - whoops  [but remember - its stood up for some time already, so don't panic]

Hello Maureen, Who actually advised you that there should have been a ring fitted? The comune?

The person who submitted the plans to the comune for approval will have incorporated everything needed by the local regulations. If you did not seek approvals then, I'm afraid, it is likely to be a very costly excercise to put everything right. The bottom line is never do any work on or in your house without asking the tecnico at your own comune. Any other comune will be likely to have different rules, so you MUST ask locally BEFORE doing anything.   Or, are you just teasing us, Maureen Tease?
