EasyJet's allocated seating is working out fine for me - without paying for selected seats. I like to sit towards the back away from the wings but within 6 rows of the rear exit and not too close to the toilets. To be fairly certain of my seat preference without payment, I log onto the EasyJet site, click the reserve seat button, and take a look at the seat reservation situation. Free seats appear to be allocated fairly sequentially, away from the pay areas. If I don't like the look of what is likely to be the next free seat allocation, I log out without doing anything further, and try again in a day or so and look to see where seat reservations have got to and whether it is getting closer to my desired area. So far this method has worked for me. Allan thinks I am potty, but then he doesn't mind sitting over the fuel tanks or miles away from the exits! As we fly frequently keeping costs down is a good idea.We can now take our time at the boarding gate, and unlike on Ryanair, I don't have to worry about the weight of my cabin luggage - as they don't weight it. Well done EasyJet for your online seat booking method.
