Picking up on the subject of electricity suppliers - I'm also with Servizio Elettrico Nazionale and have often wondered about changing but do not know of any comparison websites. I also find the "fixed" charges very high and am not sure how they are calculated. Has anyone had any success comparing suppliers?

The fixed charges are applicable to all suppliers. You will only get a slight variation on the cost per Kw and the difference to your bill will be pretty minimal. Asin the Uk there are lots of suppliers, but some will disappear without warning and you will be passed to a new one without your knowledge. The big ones - ENEL energia, ENI, Sorgenia and a few more local ones will probably stick around. If you are with ENEL servizio elettrico you will anyway get a new supplier after July as it ceases to exist.

I thought Enel had already been taken over. But Ugo suggested Enegie which seems to be a lot better in the sense I can get hold of them they have English speaking customer service people I think I may change over to them. As said there are no comparison sites but. Servizio Nationzale are pretty bad with you cannot get in contact with them there is no email address their website does not work when you try to submit any forms especially a complaint form it is a nightmare and as yet I cannot find anynoe to address why they have taken over €300.00 from my bank account. I agree Ugo they are chameleons..:) Thank you for all your information but what are your thoguhts on energia?

I have Engie for 6 years - and I feel good about itif you have any kind of problem or question, the site has a great CHAT, the staff is very helpful and courteous - they answer ONLY from italy, no call center in morocco, albania ... north polethe invoices arrive 1 month before the withdrawal on your account, if you are able to demonstrate some over-invoicing, they suspend the withdrawal from your account, until the problem is solvedif you have any payment delay, they will send you 3 emails, and they will also call you, before sending you a registered reminder -have a beautiful ON LINE service, to apply for the transfer to them or a new contract, all the documents can be uploaded from their site, no FAX, paper mail (Enel accepts documents ONLY via FAX or mail .. a real ordeal)
