Hi Nils, yes the G.I.L. was an organization set up in 1927 " la Gioventù italiana del littorio" it was  the organization of young facists. it's "mission" was precise, it was set up to ensure the spiritual ,sporting and para military perparation of the young. At it's peak it vanted nearly 9.000.000 enrolled in it's "ranks" they typically used a black fez as headgear.

Answer to: Bidets

sorry but this business always winds me up given, without going into too many details, that it is the only way for excellence to keep oneself clean in one's intimate parts.. i was recently in a hotel in the UK only £120 per night B&B with my butt hanging over the side of the bath tub with the head of a flex shower in my hand trying to wash myself,After all one can't keep having a shower just for these things... i've NEVER understood the sniggering disdain that bidets suscitate in the brits.people who are not connected to sewers and have their own cesspits should also consider all that unecessary and excessive use of toilet paper which if not more than careful can cause problems.... nowadays if i'm going out of italy i usually check to see if they have bidets (last time i didn't!) even if my mothers friend thinks they are for footbaths or keeping flowers fresh (?)

i'm not too sure how this works in Toscana but it's probably similar to here ,referring to human consumption of well water, you will have to call your health authority A.S.U.R so that they may take samples of the water and advise as to whether it's even possible to use this water for domestic use. My personal advice would be to get your house connected to mainswater in any case EVEN if you are able to use the well water. This because well's can dry up,or periodically provide insufficient water or be subject to serious environmental pollution rendering the water unusable (even in rural areas)Skilled tradesmen NOT working in the black range from Euro 25,00 to up to 35,00 per hour plus vat. most of the other higher costs you are or may encounter are due to the high spec. things concerning earthquake legislation.also you will find thatr basic specifications are generally of a highwer standard than you may encounter in the uk like hard wood window fixtures with double glazing as standard idem copper guttering and descending pipes (required buy many municipalities) quality roof insulation, solid concreted floors with good tiling etc.friends who recently completed a restoration here had  at the end not used the 12% contingency budget put into their estimate by the geometra nevertheless it's important that there is a contingency budget.good luck with your project.

yes, that is how it is as far as i'm aware because over time there have been frequent changes. bear in mind however that NOT all the things you will buy for your new build have that lower vat rate so for some things you will still be charged 20%.In fact in order to benefit from any vat reduction it is necessary that (thru your geometra) you produce duplicate declarations to be used to give to the various different artisans who without an official declaration are not obliged to reduce the vat at all as this is delicate stuff (otherwise they can get in trouble)

are not very popular in italy and indeed in continental europe.there is however an increasing offer of these vehicles especially at the upper end of the market (mercedes etc) apart from any personal opinions about automatic gear shifts even more so if associated with 4x4 vehicles they perfom especially badly on the minor  roads, non asphalt conditions, the frequent very steep gradiants which over time will really stress heavily your gear box and could lead to requiring a new clutch over a couple of years.your driving reactions (ie manual gear change) are superior to those of an automatic gear box! as here in the Marche sitting on nice flat freeways or sitting around in a queue of traffic all great stuff for automatics are a remote dream here.Just to say when i got my new vehicle last september the only conditions sine qua non that i posed to the dealer was that if it was white or automatic i would not take the vehicle...

thishi, yes this is true as most of the other posts concerning registered plumbers and electricians,The problems could come however from another quarter.IF you registered as a builder, then started paying your national contributions to INPS later on the revenue people will come to you demanding significant sums on your presumed "undeclared" earnings to which you sustain that you were working on your own house not on other people's however they will say that if you are a registerd builder paying your national security contributions then acxcording to their parameters /( studi del settore) ( an unpleasant system run by a computer system called interestingly enough JERICO ) That is they "study" various business sectors then they tell you what you earn...! failure to comply with THEIR paramters entails a full blown revenue study of you and everything you have, earn etcpersonally i would suggest that the easier way would be to get a builder to do all the external/structural work then do all the inside finishing yourself jobs like rendering, tiling floors, wood treatment, painting at the end of the day nobody really bothers about what goes on inside houses it's the external work which attracts the interest of the authorities.anyway best of luck with your project

i've always loved it. around here in the Marche the blood is eaten (and is fantastic) at lunch of the morning the pig is killed and butchered  i was at a pigkill-butchering the other week,The blood is cooked in the pan with lots of onion some herbs salt and takes on the form of pieces it is served with pieces of orange finely cut up.in this area the blood is not eaten after that. as far as i'm aware the only other people who make a kind of black pudding are the french though i did hear of something vaguely similare in Toscana i'm sure somewhere like lidl probably get it in occasionally but i wouldn't want that from there......

Answer to: Burglary survey
Fri, 01/08/2010 - 06:51

here in the prov.of Ascoli...well away from the coast there is hardly any crime of this kind .there have been, over time however occasional small spates of house burglary and yes you're right usually more often at easily accessed properties close to or on main roads.Generally these have been attributed to gypsies,or eastrern european migrants.Since my neighbour threatened a group of gypsies in front of the carabinieri! with an automatic rifle! we actually have had no problems here at all ...having such a "bad name"..Generally,although with little satisfaction to those who have been burgaled, they do usually find who dun it..which brings such spates to an end.

if you intend to undertake serious walking excursions, like up to the tops of peaks, from peak to peak etc the best time to do this is from mid september thru november, later the presence of the snow impedes this and the snow in the higher parts can even remain until the begining of june.july-mid september are not considered good for walking due to the heat.

at a recent wedding a great band was found for the occasion absolutely professional and a suprisingly reasonable price.they're based in Fabriano but would "do" siena without problems. their repotoire is mainly stuff like wilson picket, smith, gaynor, redding etc, 70's,mo town, funk they are in eight and have all their own equipment etc. For a three hour session incl. travel and everything they charged Euro 1.800 which would be more if they went to Toscana but not a lot,let me know with a pm if you want to hear them they'll send a cd or whatever if you like..
