I have an Australian Client for whom I refurbished their house on Lake Como, now they are living in Italy for over 12 months, and in their Pension years.
Hello all, I am writing asking the forum for help on behalf of an Australian client for whom we are refurbishing her house in Italy. The Australian lady bought the house to refurbish wanting to take up Italian citizenship.
Hi all I have a very basic question on using this forum: How do I send a Personal Message to someone? It would seem if I hit "reply" and send what would appear to be a message which only to recipient would see, is instead visible by the whole foru

Hi GracieJeff65, if it is a small job - OK. But if it is a bigger job (over €10,000) it is not advised to give it to the first english speaking builder that comes along as it will be too tempting, even for the most honest builder, to be uncompetitively expensive. Let us know how you are doing and what size of job.bye Ronco
I don’t live in Veniceand I have never used a guide when visiting, but looking at the internet The Cooperative Tour Guides of Venice looks worthwhile.http://www.guidevenezia.it/#!english/c15pi
Anyway if you are looking down in Abruzzo there is a very chatty and friendly chap called Barry, who works for an estate agents in Abruzzo called acaitalianproperty.com.I bumped into Barry at a Place in the Sun fair in Birmingham, he is not an estate agent but works as someone who can explain how things work for english buyers in Abruzzo in simple language with a Stoke accent. I think their website gives contact details of Barry. He would be able to chat to you about a thing or two, migh tbe helpful.
Hi Stefka,Property prices in Italy vary a lot from region to region, generally speaking, North Italy is more expensive than South Italy (South of Rome). If the property is near the seaside or has good views its value increases. If the property needs renovating the price should reflect that, but from my experience the discounted price does not usually allow for the basic works required and a strong negotiation of price is generally required to get the true price that reflects the works (and time and energy) that will be required.Ciao Conor
Hi, I think AlanH has given the best advice, in that you have to do some research them come to Italy and follow your heart. Bear in mind that train travel in italy is becoming increasingly two tier, I.e. Between big towns there are two options: 1. fast clean and costly and 2. Slow, dirty and cheap. To get to less populated places the only option will be the second..
