I have an Australian Client for whom I refurbished their house on Lake Como, now they are living in Italy for over 12 months, and in their Pension years.
Hello all, I am writing asking the forum for help on behalf of an Australian client for whom we are refurbishing her house in Italy. The Australian lady bought the house to refurbish wanting to take up Italian citizenship.
Hi all I have a very basic question on using this forum: How do I send a Personal Message to someone? It would seem if I hit "reply" and send what would appear to be a message which only to recipient would see, is instead visible by the whole foru
Hi Sbthorne, I think maybe you have already got wind of the local law that puts a maximum limit on 3 bedroom or 6 bedplaces for B&Bs in Piemonte, See the law number 20 of 2000 (Legge Regionale 13 marzo 2000, n. 20) in linkhttp://www.invia.it/bed_and_breakfast/leggi/come_aprire_bed_and_breakfast_piemonte.php It states:3. L'attività, che deve avere carattere di saltuarietà anche se per periodi stagionali ricorrenti, deve essere esercitata utilizzando non più di tre camere con un massimo di sei posti letto.Translated roughly 3. The activity should be of intermittent character although seasonal recurrent, with a maximum of three rooms with a maximum of six beds. I am sorry I feel that this is not really what you wanted to hear. Maybe a Relais or Agriturismo or Hotel would be more your line. For example see:http://www.agriturismo.it/it/extra/aprire-un-agriturismo-in-piemonte-501
Hi Sun,I remember my friend came over and I told him to get the winter tyres (with Hertz) as he has going to meet us in the Italain Alps where it is compulsory by law to have winter tyre or chains, - In the end he opted to go fo the chains stating that the winter tyres were a very expensive option - in the end he did not have to use the chains as there was no snow in the period he was over. Bye Conor
Hi Julia, This Wednesday we will be in Calamandrana, I will try and make it to Bar Roma. We are in Frazione San Vito which is down the hill a bit from Calamandrana Alto going away from Calamandrana Basso. The restaurant is great and er go often, it is run as a Circolo in the sense that whoever eats there is theoretically a member of the Circolo which probably gets round ASL and other problems. It is “il Circolo Arci Il Batacchio” and is run by Sig.ra Maria Araspi cell:3283286669. You need to phone to make an appointment and she will cook whatever you request (within reason i.e. from the trad. Monferrato menu) By for now hope to see you on Wed. evening. All the best Conor

Hi Tammy, A quick reply just to say that for “furniture” – south of Como there are a lot of important companies of worldwide fame and many more small family run companies which support the big companies and also produce a rich network of possibilities…however I don’t know what “furniture” you mean i.e. which part of the home – Kitchen, Living, Dining, Bathroom Bedroom or Outdoor.Let me know.Whereas sanitary ware is not really a thing local to Como or Lombardy, unless I am getting the wrong drift. There are several are good sanitary ware producers in Italy. We are architects, by the way and we recommend Catalano for good price / quality ratio - http://www.catalano.it/Also worth seeing are:Brera Group http://www.breragroup.it/web/Flaminia http://www.ceramicaflaminia.it/itAntonio Lupi http://www.antoniolupi.it/A good showroom to see most of above is:Primula di Restelli s.r.l., S.S. 11, Vittuone, Provincia di Milano 20010Ideal Standard; Villeroy-Boch and Duravit have a significant share of the Italian market in sanitary ware.Tapware is something more local to Como and there are many tapware producers in the Lake Orto area. Our favourite is Fantini http://www.fantini.it/However worth also looking atBellosta http://www.bellostarubinetterie.com/itBossini http://www.bossini.it/itGessi http://www.gessi.it/ Hope this helps and does not make yo more confused. Now I will be off for 10 days or so.Bye for now, Conor
Hi TammyJJust read your message....but I see that it was sent some time ago. Let me know if you still want info on where to buy or if it is now something no longer urgent or relevant (as you have now bought things and are experts on where to go) Bye Conor
Hi Benitalia,I can confirm that I have sent payment receits to a fax number in order to get the lekky back ....they seem to have a special fax number that is part of the protocall of getting the lekky back, once it has been cut off. If you can send the fax it will make life easier for you in being hooked up again (important to include in the fax the reference number to the bill that is being paid so as they can co-ordinate the payment and re-connect you quicker).......if I remember correctly the lekky was back within hours of the fax being sent.Wishing you all the success and happy holidays! (with Christmas lights)
Hi Stefan,Me and my family (two small kids) will be in our Calamandrana House from 28th December 2015 until the 2nd / 3rd January 2016.We live in Milan and it is not far to travel to the house so we are often there at weekends.Let us know when you are able to come to visit area and the house. It would be nice to meet you and a pleasure to introduce our favourite aspects of the area - however I undestand that you are only at preliminary stages and have not comitted to the house yet. All the best, Conor
