I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).
I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.
It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?
Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?
I'm sure someone here will advise (hopefully)............I have some 30/40 false acacia trees (the ones with the spikes - ouch !), they have grown in the last 5 years to some 15/20metres high.
"Mr Berlusconi told Italian television: "Life in Italy is good. The restaurants are full. It's difficult to get a seat on a plane they're so busy; holidays are all booked up."There you go then, no financial crisis here !?S

Well PennyAW, I sympathise with the NW area, we lived in the Cheshire area before we escaped to here and the weather was often 'changeable' (I think the word is !) The Scottish Open was devastated this weekend due to torrential rain...........and I even heard that there was a HURRICANE in Bolton !!!! S
With temperatures at that level I assume you have moved to Kuwait or somewhere like that !!! PLENTY hot enough for me at 33c Keep cool, S
Joy.......... It is hot here and getting hotter ! Check the weather forecast.....select your own village. http://www.ilmeteo.it/meteo/Macerata S
Hi chrisnotton, I do seem to recall this button some time ago(was it the old forum ?), but I have to say that I don't THINK that I ever used it. My normal practice on this forum is 'stay signed in' and have a link to 'new activity', that seems to stop me having to log in and secondly, I only see the activity by time, so the most recent posts are the first things that I see. It works great for me ! Good luck, S
Hi Sibillini, (I love your mountains by the way !) Yes I think Garda would bea good halfway option (weather permitting !). I'll check out your suggestions and it sounds like a sensible way to go. We have 'done' Garda and (all of the lakes) quite a lot but not in the Dec/Jan timeframe so you have provoked a few thoughts. I suppose I was also thinking of maybe entering Austria for the stop on the way there ? Possibly what I was looking for was something off the beaten track that may be a 'hidden' gem (yes ram............maybe Kathy Bates/Jack Nicholson comes to mind)...... In terms of timings, I was thinking of getting to within a two/three hour drive to Starnberg, and maybe something similar on the way back; sort of breaking the back of the journey, resting somewhere 'nice' and then a little 2/3 hr trip to destination. Thanks again, enjoy the heat (!) S
One of my MANY jobs I have is as Head of Climate Control, and as such, when we go to the beach, I have to enter the car first (some minutes before 'take off') and get the a/c going...............PLEASE tell me you have a/c ??!! AND use it ? S
Yes comments agreed with, the difficulties I have are how do I keep the triffids down ? The lawns (ha!).......that should be all one word by the way (lawns-ha!).........are drying out nicely so that in the next two weeks (whereby it is due to be getting even hotter), they can only possibly go a nice golden colour ! But the triffids keep growing ! Keep cool folks ! S
Hi, We will look out for Kathy Bates and/or Jack Nicholson Ram !! (Thanks for the warning !) Re more detail............ alan h.............it's a 'special occasion' !!! We are leaving (early morning start - 8 am-ish) on the 5th Dec from the Macerata area to arrive in Starnberg for the night of the 6th December (Google map here). Christmas and New Year around that area (already booked) and we will be doing the return journey on the day (early morning start) of the 7th Jan. (therefore stopover somewhere on the night of the 7th). So, ideally............ we would like to stop off at sort of early afternoon/daylight (2/3pm ish?) and would like somewhere not too far off the beaten track for the night of the 5th Dec and similar for the night of the 7th Jan. Obviously the weather could well play a big part ! grazie, S
