I am fast approaching the need to renew my driving licence as it is due to expire this mid year.
I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).
I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.
It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?
Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?
I'm sure someone here will advise (hopefully)............I have some 30/40 false acacia trees (the ones with the spikes - ouch !), they have grown in the last 5 years to some 15/20metres high.
"Mr Berlusconi told Italian television: "Life in Italy is good. The restaurants are full. It's difficult to get a seat on a plane they're so busy; holidays are all booked up."There you go then, no financial crisis here !?S

Well, this is a new one to me !! If the UK consider you "deemed domiciled" in the uk at the time of your death, and that means if you were "resident" in the UK for at least 17 out of the last 20 years, Very interesting Charlotte ! S
I think (THINK) that you can handwrite an A4 sheet (signed and dated) yourself which will have a standing in Italy. Things have changed recently and the latest understanding that I have is the your country of residence's will has priority. There is a lot of info on this site re this.... http://www.italymag.co.uk/community/group/italian-succession-law Try this, a very knowledgeable lady (Charlotte) runs the group Good luck, S
Well done, I just think that one should have a feeling of ease and relaxation when agreeing a 'contract' with a supplier (in your case Ryanair). Why on earth do they put people through these tortures to the point that you were dreading ring them up ??? Having said that, a friend of mine recently said that they really LIKE Ryanair............(there were no drugs or alcohol involved !!) S
Sounds worrying...........you have actually got return tickets booked have you ??? Sorry but you may HAVE to call them ! Good luck, S
We have never been beholden to John Lewis, but having looked at it, their range is pretty good ? And for £7.50 delivery charge for multiple items, it seems hard to believe ? Has anybody actually ordered and received multiple items for this price ? S
Masca..............the other bills at least will be sort of 'work outable'. We did get a nasty shock recently when our water bill came in at over 500 euro (for 6 months - normally more like 80). On investigation we found that we had a leak IN THE JOINT whereby our tubo is attached to the water board's (Tennacola) meter. The leak was on OUR side of the meter so they frowned and said it was our problem not theirs !. In the UK I would have ripped into them, but I (sadly) gave up and paid.....still not happy with it though ! ho hum ! S
Hi Flip, I assume this is a comune by comune tax as I have never heard of it here in Le Marche. Does everyone have to pay it or is it just for the people who live on the said white roads ? S
Rubbish tax is tasse di rifiuti Lawd knows what the rest is............can you scan it in ? Maybe some sort of local 'beauty spot' tax in the mountains ? S
I have to say that the ICI (and all taxes) should not be a problem, rules are rules. I recently received a 50euro fine for not paying my bollo (road tax) from 3 years ago. I mistakenly assumed that we had paid this when we purchased the car and paid all of our outragously high insurances. No, we had not paid it, so along with the cost of the tax for that year, we had another 50euro hit on top of it. I have no probs with the back tax, but if I had KNOWN at the time that I had to pay it, I would have paid it then.................(cost me a couple of lunches in fines !!) No onto ICI tax..............(back to the thread as some say !!) We do not pay ICI tax here because we are prima casa, our geometra and comune say that we are prima casa and should not pay it. If.....................they turn around and say (in a few years time), that we SHOULD HAVE paid it, I will be 'upset' ! K
Calm down calm down........... We spent many years hoofing around everywhere Rome northwards on the west coast, some perfect locations (albeit touristy at times), through Turin, Milano and all of the lakes (fantastic) summer and winter........Emiligia Romana (VERY VERY nearly bought there - Castell D'Arquato - very nice), BUT........... coming down the east coast, ended up some four years ago in Penna San Giovanni, but any of the villages here in Le Marche would have done us............marvellous ............we did the right thing for us.
