I am fast approaching the need to renew my driving licence as it is due to expire this mid year.
I have a regular sum of money sent over from the UK every month. This month however the money left my UK account and has yet to arrive here in Italy (Banca della Marche).
I saw this comment from a Californian news item............Emerging Cuisines from Emerging Markets - As the world grows smaller, the selection of cuisines grows larger and guests’ palettes are begging to try new flavours.
It will take a quite monumental event to prise us from our wonderful life and friends here. BUT,................. what/where is the future for the younger generation here ?
Being a full time resident here in Italy, we are having a month or so on holiday in another EU country (not in the UK, our country of origin). Does anybody know what 'travel' related health cover are we 'entitled' to ?
I'm sure someone here will advise (hopefully)............I have some 30/40 false acacia trees (the ones with the spikes - ouch !), they have grown in the last 5 years to some 15/20metres high.
"Mr Berlusconi told Italian television: "Life in Italy is good. The restaurants are full. It's difficult to get a seat on a plane they're so busy; holidays are all booked up."There you go then, no financial crisis here !?S

I would MUCH prefer people to keep going to Tuscany as Le Marche is SUPERB for all the reasons (and many more) stated earlier, but hang on.........................don't tell everyone they'll all want to come here !!! S
Somebody give us details please ??! S

Blue Lavender...............just a bit of humour, of course it IS on topic............what is the problem that you have with pm'ing? To the righthand side of the screen there is a 'send a personal message (PM)' that should work ? S
In general I agree, although the issue that you have raised has yet to cause me a single sleepless night ! I think the major point of this Forum is to encourage people to come along to gain or provide information, (or even just look).......... more contributions the better obviously. If you were 'following' a post on say Solar Energy etc, could Shopping for Figs in the Marche actually be a point of interest in that the yield of the tree may be increased due to said solar energy ? Good luck however it goes, I will continue dipping in and out as normal, S
Hi Gala Placidia .................we MIGHT do the return journey (Italy to Spain) one year, do you drive all of the way or get a boat (from Genoa)? How long does it/would it take to drive ? Thanks in advance, S
Cor Blimey......... Thanks for the info Penny............another little 'trip' for me ! I'm certainly going to investigate further as I tend to dislike paying large organisations more monies than I have to ! S
Hi all and karenr, Thanks a LOT for all of your feedback, and for answering my queries. I have a 'normal' Telecom Italia connected telephone and pay 10euros per month for calls to UK etc. (Our TYPICAL phone bill is circa 80euros every two months - I think !), costs include IVA, line rental calls to mobiles etc etc. So that runs at about 500euros per year. I have a very good internet connection via wireless (not going anywhere near Telecom Italia), and a fairly good laptop...............BUT, with no microphone. So, I assume that I could buy a Skype telephone (from say Euronics), plug it into my router and orf it will jolly well go ? If I trial this and it is as good as we hope, I could THEN say bye bye Telecom Italia I assume AND save 100's of euros per annum?? I'll have a think, thanks again for all comments, S
There is a lot of info on this sort of topic on this forum 'somewhere' ! But to summarise: My understanding is that you need to have something like 2,500 euros in a bank account (or it may be 5,000 - sorry! it is certainly a minimal amount !). You also need health cover for two years, this may be through a private insurance policy. The costs of living in Le Marche are really what you want them to be in some ways and very much depends on your lifestyle. I think the actual costs (all in) would be circa E30k per annum. 40k would be PLENTY, 20k would be a little in the tight side I think. I'm sure you'll cope and also love it, good luck ! S
It looks like I should check this out again. If I may ask some questions? So..............if I CANCEL my telecom italia number/line............. 1. I do not need to buy a new telephone ? I assume the answer to this is yes? 2. I assume I have a new number ? I assume the answer to this is yes? 3. I can phone (normal ) BT landlines in the UK (for me) with minimal costs (currently 10euros per month unlimited + line costs) I assume the answer to this is yes? 4. What is the volume and delay like ? I assume the answer to this is there are no problems with volume and/or delay? 5. If I was to call from Italy to the UK via Skype to a NON COMPUTER (i.e. landline).............(for say 3 hours per month) what would you estimate the costs to be in total? just a round figure............... I assume the answer to this is something less than 50 euros per year ? Thanks in advance, S
