If you have property in UK you might contemplate redirecting your mail to Italy during your sojourn. Please be aware that the mail people, despite you paying quite a lot of money might mistakenly send your mail from your bank back to the bank.

We have a number of external walls about a metre high, cement rendered on both sides and made of tufo blocks. Sadly the rendering keeps getting spalled off after the winter due to, I think water in the walls freezing and expanding.

Birmingham UK area with 95% dead yuccas this spring plus lots of ceanothus dead and indeed anything a bit tender, however I was not expecting more or less similar here in Lazio, the main victims seem to have been date palms , even well-established

Looking at a courtyard in Umbria I saw a tradescanthia plant, the one sometimes non-pc called wandering Jew. Got hold of a couple and potted up on my terrace in Lazio and lo and behold they thrive mightily.

For the tech experts - can I use a UK gas oven in Italy attached to a supply from one of those big cylinders in the garden? I am thinking of bringing one out. In anticipation - thanks.

Rejoice with me for at last ENEL have recognised that I AM resident and therefore qualify for a lower tariff and wait for this ... they have back-dated my benefits to the initial application about three years ago! Oh joy!.

Not really being nosey but how do you intend to attract the punters, notice outside property? then you must be on a suitable main road, advertising? - can be v expensive and not v successful, the interest in foreign holidays at present seems to be v low. I love Lazio, with Rome near at hand but how do you intend to convince others in the UK of this, it's not easy!I might know of somewhere suitable but rules probably require you to pm me!

No PVA - too permanent, No Wax will go dark. Use Klear liquid from UK, after first couple of applications forms a nice shiny, colourless seal and can be removed with ammonia/floor cleanser mix. Have not seen it in Italy so far tho'The seal throws off liquid stains and on natural stone looks like a pebble just out of the sea (how poetic)

I think I'd rather boil my head in virgin olive oil, however didn't he abolish ici, now that was a smart move, mind you it will probably come back to bite us!

My advice and that of my Italian friends is if you have a telly anywhere in the house, pay the licence which incidentally you can do at your local lotto/tobacconists. Fines are said to be high!

We have Alice via telecom and it works fine. The modem is an elegant number which is complete with wi-fi and if it goes wrong you take it to a local agent and they give you a new one without fuss. Some setting up to do so reasonable Italian helps and radio 4 is very good . Occasionally the server is down but not very often.

Doughnut style 3.5m dia PVC pool still going strong after 2 summers use. Tips - must be on a flat surface with very little slope (most terraces have some slope to carry away the rainwater) and you must have a skimmer (like a flat nylon net) to remove suicidal flying ants etc. Bacteria-free water is assured by a floating gizmo containing  a quarter of a tablet of solid chlorine stuff, lasts a week. all checks with little test kits show very good results. Pool great for a cooling wallow (cost 70 quid)

I think the amount of attention your trees will vary a lot depending on your particular care regime. Some folks around here turn over the soil below the trees with a tractor, some just turn over the soil around the trunk, others just strim twice a year, some use fertiliser, some not, nobody here irrigates but I hear that they do sometimes in America - and then there's spraying! As an aside what do folk get in yield from mature frantoio trees?

Crikey! what next, on my last floor tiling job the builder asked me if I wanted them laid diagonally or square (ly) .Did I make the right choice or will I incur the wrath of the commune tile-acceptability-inspectorate? Woe, woe and thrice woe!

Don't know the answer to your question but I do know that our modest little town has several free wi-fi points in the piazze. I haven't used them yet nor do I know how common these are but one of these could be useful for occasional use.
